Gaming Plans for July 2020

It’s been a while since I actually laid out any plans for gaming during a month, and I think my progress has been stifled because of that. This month, instead of just drifting around, I am gonna plant a flag and head for it in hopes that I will be more directed and accomplish my goals.

I don’t want to set too many goals, though, since there isn’t any certainty that I will have any time to play in this COVID-19 world.

Games of the Month

This month sits right in the middle of the year, and usually, I would be heading to Comic-Con. I’m really bummed that COVID has put the smackdown on conventions, but of course, games must go on.

My tentative list of games I would like to focus on this month is as follows:

  • Destiny 2
  • Out of the Park Baseball 21
  • World of Warcraft
  • EverQuest
  • Secret World Legends

These are gonna be my primary 5, but I like to throw in at least one or two extra so…

  • Lord of the Rings Online
  • Nioh

Destiny 2

I have been having a blast back in this game and look to have some more fun. Now, though, I am starting to get into the grind for gear, and while I usually prefer storylines and quests, I’m gonna give this a try. At the very least, I want to level up through the remaining campaigns to see what they’re all about. I may also try to find a guild or a group to play with, so I can try out some of the group content.

World of Warcraft

I suppose it would be nice to get to level cap before the next expansion releases, so I’m gonna give it a try. I started up a baby Druid and have been having some fun, but I’m a bit inexperienced with the new leveling experience where things keep up at your current level. With that change, I can essentially level anywhere I want, but I’m not sure where I should go to level. It‘ll be a whole new world, but I think I can make some decent progress before the new expansion comes out.

Secret World Legends

I restarted last time around and was rolling with a Hammer/Shotgun/Chaos build that I was enjoying. I think if I apply myself, I can get through Kingsmouth with PBNJ and have a good time of it. I’ve just gotta keep pushing myself after I get to Egypt since thing kinda broke down for me last time I tried to progress beyond the Solomon Islands.

Out of the Park Baseball 21

This is a game I’m gonna play for the entire season of the Second Chance League. At the rate I’m going, it’ll take me more than the duration of a normal baseball season, so I’m gonna try to speed up a bit. I’d like to try to get to the All Star Break during July. I think that’d be appropriate since the All Star Game is usually in July and I think that’ll get me on track to get a season in over the next couple months.

EverQuest

For EverQuest I am pretty much just looking to get some levels. I enter the month at level 5 and left things about a week ago as soon as I dinged. I was a bit frustrated with the pace of leveling and more so with the ability to log into the game when I had a chance to play.

Lord of the Rings Online

It’s been way too long since I jumped back into this game and I’m not even really sure where I’m at. I’d prefer to not restart once again but then I want to make sure that I know the story and how to play my character. I really enjoy the complexity of the Warden class but I keep getting stalled out as I either out level the content or I start looking to do everything outside the main storyline. I think I need to focus and try to move the story forward even if that means I don’t get to see everything…I can always come back.

Nioh

This is a game I really enjoyed a while ago and I just saw that I had it on Steam. I played quite a bit though I didn’t get too far on the PS4, but I think I’ll give the PC a try to see how things work out there. The bottom line is that I had fun and am looking to have more now.

It’s a Wrap

On the whole, I think 5+2 games is plenty to focus on for the month and I think I can make some decent progress in each of the games. I think my biggest progress will be focused on Destiny 2 and WoW since those have some big changes coming down with their next expansion. In all, I think this’ll be a good month
