Sunday at ComicCon@Home

While Sunday is always the last day of Comic-Con and I get sad because it’s over, I always find neat things to check out and today is no difference. Once again though, I’ve got way too many things I want to see and not enough time.

Thoughts on the Robotech Panel

For each fo the past few years I’ve made an effort to go to the Robotechpanel to see if anything was new. Robotech was one of my first introductions to Japanese Anime and a cartoon with an actual ongoing story arc. I loved it as a kid. I felt like someone was actually making a show for me…about things I cared about. Sure, I liked Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse but Robotech was about fighter jets that transformed into robots, alien invasions, and teenagers who made a difference in the world.

Sadly, every year I’ve gone to this panel I’ve been pretty disappointed by the lack of news.

This year, thought, things seem to be moving in a positive direction. There are tons of new merchandise that are being licensed, a comic by Titan Comics that is actually a pretty cool read, Funimation is taking steps to bring the various Robotech anime to streaming service and in the 35th anniversary, there is talk and movement on a live action movie.

I was pretty excited when I watched this panel and I’m hoping things continue to move in the right direction for this great property.

Thoughts on No Tow Trucks Beyond Mars

This is probably the 5th time I’ve been to this panel since it’s the 6th time it has been at Comic-Con. I love this panel but the problem with it is that there is so much information that I want to learn, I can’t recall it all. Luckily this time around, I can go back and rewatch the video to learn what they are talking about.

Regardless, I only got through the first 2 speakers so far.

Shonte and Rhonda.

Shonte is involved with the Mar Rover project and it is really exciting. The team she works on is determined to get to Mars ‘Pandemic or No Pandemic’ and it is inspiring. Jsut like the Dragon Capsule that flew up to the International Space Station, this is the future of humanity. That’s why I go to this panel every year.

The other panelist, Rhonda is working with exoplanets. Those are the planets that are not circling our Sun. It’s really exciting since there is a good chance that someday we may find out that there is life on one of those planets. As things go…right now Rhonda is looking into over 32 planets that orbit in the habitable zone that would make them similar to Earth.

It’s pretty exciting and I’ve gotta go back to finish off the panel but I really love when NASA shows up at the con.

Hopefully some kids will be able to watch the videos since they are available. Maybe they will be inspired to make the rover that visits one of those exoplanets.

It’s a Wrap

With Robotech and the NASA panel I think I had a great final day of ComicCon@Home. The good thing is that I can keep going the rest of the week. Since the videos are still available on YouTube, I should be able to watch ALL the panels I want and I’m pretty stoked by that. Sure, it’ll take time but this ComicCon@Home has been a blast!
