MMM Schedule of Events

Now that the brackets have all been announced, we’re all set for the 2021 March Mammal Madness tournament, and I’m excited to see how things turn out. Sure, I’ve got to examine the brackets closely to determine who I’m gonna pick for each match, but that’s all part of the fun.

Make sure you get your selections made by Monday, March 8th, since that’s when the Wild Card match kicks off the challenge. I’m kinda on the side of the Hopi Chipmunk, but the Southern Red-backed Vole could be a fierce competitor as well. I’ve gotta do some more research to figure out my pick.

After the wildcard, the first round matches take place on March 10, 11, 15, and 17 and tend to be located in ecosystems that favor the higher seed. That can be pretty important for some of the battles since, in the past, we’ve seen marine animals struggle to compete in the desert.

In all, though, it’s more about the animal and who they’re battling. Over the years, there have been some surprising upsets, and there was even a Tardigrade that tagged along for many battles even after it technically was eliminated.

Whatever you do, don’t simply expect the top seed to advance just because they are ranked higher.
