A Day of Expectations

I don’t really think I entered today with a bunch of expectations, but it sure seems that, in retrospect, I should have. Expectations about the book I’m reading, expectations about Spring Training baseball, and sad expectations about Comic-Con 2021.

Even without these expectations to begin the day, I suppose I handled them all fine.

The First Spring Loss

While my Angels may have picked up their first loss of the short Spring Training pre-season, I liked what I saw. Andrew Heaney pitcher 2 1/3 innings, and while he gave up a run, he looked like he was already prepared to start the season.

Jose Iglesias, who nabbed a triple yesterday, smacked a home run today, and I’m starting to like that pick-up. I was kinda pissed since I like Andrelton Simmons, and I wanted to see him return for the season, but Iglesias looks like he might be a decent replacement.

There were some based running blunders, and pitching got progressively worse, but on the whole, I enjoyed watching the game. Any baseball right now is better than nothing.

Comic-Con Cancelled/Postponed Again

I figured this was coming. San Diego Comic-Con 2021 has been canceled. Well, they say it will be happening at home again, like in 2020, but for only 3 of the 4 days. Beyond that, the organizers have indicated that they are considering a smaller gathering in the fall…maybe November or something.

It’s all dependent on the Covid situation…I certainly would not relish the idea of heading into a room with hundreds or thousands of people if I wasn’t vaccinated. So we’ll see how things go and if I work on getting tickets if they have an event. As things were in 2020, I enjoyed ComicCon@Home for what it was but missed the in-person event.

Follow the Money, Death & Taxes

With Myfanwy meeting her sister in chapter 16, we find out who was doing the goggling of her and learn that Bronwyn was able to track down her sister through death certificates and tax information. It turns out both sisters are pretty good at research.

With that said, the other chapter I read through today deals with Thomas’s investigation of the Checquy and who might be planning on attacking her. It turns out that when you follow the money, you might find some interesting things like a whole school of kids with special powers. This was definitely not something expected.

It’s a Wrap

I suppose looking back at things today, it was a day of expectations. I expected the Angels to lose a game sooner or later in Spring Training, and today was that day. I expected Comic-Con to be virtual again this year, and that was confirmed, and in my reading, I…well, I didn’t expect to learn about duplicate training programs for mutant kids.
