Better Understandings

Today was a learning day as I learned about some of the supporting characters in Dune while observing a dinner party put on by the Atreides. Spice is valuable, but water is the most precious thing on Arrakis. I also learned of the Filth attack on Tokyo in Secret World Legends. Chicken Noodle reached the Illuminati headquarters and is just about ready to start her grand mission to Kingsmouth and beyond.

A Vision of What Awaits

Yesterday Chicken Noodle finished off the tutorial and got some idea about the mission types that are to be expected in Secret World Legends. Today we get more of an introduction to the big story and the atmosphere of the game.

Having survived the tutorial, Chicken Noodle hunts the streets of New York in search of the Illuminati headquarters. Fortunately, with her enhanced abilities and a glowing pointer, she is able to traverse the maze of streets and stairways to get to the base. Once there, she is put through some tests, drugged, and subjected to a hallucination where she has to battle an invasion of something called the Filth and an attack on Tokyo.

The hallucination seems pretty genuine, and once the Filth is battled, we are told to head to the training hall to pick out our weapons and practice a few abilities. It’s all good, and I think still basically part of the tutorial, but I can feel we are getting closer to starting to play the game.

Who’s Invited to Dinner

After watching the worm eat the spice factory in the last chapter, it is only appropriate to see the Duke throwing a dinner party. We’ve got the planetary ecologist, Kynes, a smuggler, a watershipper, a banker, and many more who provide an interesting bout of intrigue and subterfuge while everyone eats. Reading about how Jessica and Paul identify the hidden agendas of different factions is enjoyable, and the ultimate question seems to come down to the water and how much can be found on the planet.

Rated a Must Read

Chapter 16 of Dune is a Must Read that builds the tension as we start to see the complexities of the different strategies that are being employed to gain an advantage with whoever ends up ruling Arrakis.
