Expansion, MLB, and Books

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and are taking care of themselves as we head full force into another year of COVID. This thing doesn’t seem like it will ever end but if everyone takes care of themselves I’m sure we will get through this horrible pandemic.

As the end of the year is quickly approaching I am just trying to stay on top of the things I’m interested in and today I take a quick look at LOTRO, baseball, and my reading projects.

The Goods

Speedy Treebeard

In Lord of the Rings Online, I’m crawling along slower than Treebeard and while the server is ready to jump forward to the first expansion, I am still struggling to get through my 20s. The XP given on this server is dreadfully slow but I am determined to drag my Beorning through the story and into the Mines of Moria before the 2nd expansion drops. I’m loving the game and now that I reached the last deed that awards a title for not dying, I’m looking forward to being a bit more adventuresome. We’ll see how that goes but I already know I have some friends that are looking to jump into the expansion right away.

MLB Headaches

With 2022 right around the corner, I am worried about MLB. As far as I have heard, there has been absolutely ZERO discussion between the players union and the owners about playing the next season. Sure, I read about the commissioner’s letter and all the BS about pulling player images from the MLB app, but as far as I know, they are not even talking about things. I really despise this brinkmanship and their inability to site down and discuss a mutually beneficial arrangement. It’s not like they don’t all make tons of money. Anyway, I am just sick of the owners and players both and all I want is certainty that there will be a full 2022 season.

Keeping up with Reading

I think I’m doing a pretty good job of keeping up with my reading plans. While I haven’t posted about where I’m at, I’m still reading and going through Dune, The Eye of the World, and I just started Shadow on the Glass by Ian Irvine. My plans for 2022 are to read even more and to get back into reading non-fiction, science, and history as well as my normal scifi and fantasy. We’ll see how that goes, but I’ve got some plans in place already so I’m kinda hyped.

It’s a Wrap

Ok, while I did not realy try to be formal about this ramble, I kinda fell into my recent pattern which isn’t bad I suppose. In any case, I am looking forward to the LOTRO expansion even though I’m no where near the level to experience it yet. I just like to see the progress and to see that while they are moving the goalposts for my completion, I am still having fun.

I am hopeful about MLB and that the billionaires will talk to the millionaires and get a deal worked out so we lowly peons can enjoy watching their sport.

Finally, while I am not at the point where I want to divulge any of my reading plans, I am excited to jump into some good books in the coming year. I kinda feel like this pandemic has drained my energy and pulled me away from a lot of things over the past two years. I’m looking forward to pulling myself out of these duldrums and building up my energy to get things done…like reading more and getting through the LOTRO story, and I am feeling quite positive about things even as we head into our 3rd year of this COVID nightmare.

Anyway, today was a good day, and I hope you all had an interesting and enjoyable day as well.
