Two Weeks of Madness

The Rambling Redshirt’s Gaming Madness tournament has been running for about two weeks now and we’ve seen the results of 8 matches. Some have played out as expected while others contain surprises, but I’m happy with where things are at so far.

The Rundown

Here’s the current results from the Wild Card matches…

Divinity Original Sin 2 defeated Forza Horizon 5 and advanced to the first round to face Dark Souls 2.
Star Trek Online defeated Black Desert Online and advances to face Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in round 1.
Disco Elysium defeated Death Stranding and is facing off against Undertale in the first round.
Half-Life 2 beat Cyberpunk 2077 and moves on to face Neverwinter in round 1.

Then we jumped into the first round with the contests between the 8th seeds and 9th seeds…
Europa Universalis IV fell to The Division 2 and is out of the tournament.
Guild Wars 2 fought off an onslught by Legends of Aria to advance to the second round.
ArcheAge dominated Terraria and moves on.
In the most surprising upset so far, The Witcher loses a nailbitter to Champions Online.

The Goods

The next set of matches will feature the 7th seeds agaisnt the number 10s and there are some interesting match ups.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild faces off against Diablo 3.
Number 7 Dark Souls III takes on Deathloop.
Psychonauts battles it out with number 10 Darksiders II.
Greedfall tries to get past Star Wars Galaxies.

Based on my predictions going in, I’ve picked Zelda, Deathloop, Datksiders, and Star Wars Galaxies to advance and while I made those predictions without looking at any of the metacritic socres, populations, coverage, or recent development, I think I stand by them.

So far, I lost with Terraria and The Witcher from round 1 and Forza from the wild card matches so I’m not the best predictor of who’s gonna win.

It’s a Wrap

As a wrapup, I just wanted to reiterate that anyone can impact the tournament by commenting about their favorite games during the matchups.
