Salvaging Walk-Off Parking

Daily Ramble 196: Salvaging Walk-Off Parking

Today I really caused myself some headache by not reading the mission assignment in Eve. It always pays to read the quest text or else what should take 5 minutes take half an hour. I also ramble about the notice I got today a bout Comic-Con parking and the great walk-off home run Cozart hit for the Angels. Quite a day.

Parking

You can tell Comic-Con is getting close when you start getting emails about stuf other than registration. Today I got my notification that the Parking lottery is starting up. Sign-ups run from now until the 22nd of April and things get rolling on the 23rd. I’m not expecting things to work out well this year since the past couple have ended up with me scampering for places to park at the last minute but I suppose I’m a bit hopeful.

In any case, I wish everyone luck in getting parking for the Con.

Cozart for the Win

The game on Wednesday could have gone either way. Both Cleveland and the Angels played well and pitching was pretty solid. For Cleveland, they had their ace on the mount and Kluber pitched 7 quality innings striking out 6 and giving up a couple of runs. Skaggs only made it through 4 2/3 for the Angels and gave up the same 2 runs with 5 strike outs. After those 2 impressive outings, the relief corps of both teams pitched well…so well the game just kept going.

The bottom line is that the Angels used all their pitchers in another extra inning affair but this time, they won. Zack Cozart knocked out a 3–2 pitch into left field to give the team their first walk-off win of the year. It was a lot of fun to watch but I was on the edge of my seat.

Before the 13th inning HR I was gonna be giving my Player of the Game to Ohtani again since he went 2–5 with a home run and a couple RBIs, but Cozart definitely deserves the honor.

Stupid Civilian Salvager

I still haven’t moved very far with my career agent in Eve but I am making progress. Today was a really frustrating situation that I caused myself.

The mission I was assigned required me to use a Salvager to extract a black box from the remains of a pirate ship. Not such a difficult mission but I made it take forever.

First off, it was the first mission in which I had to travel any kind of distance – I had to go 3 jumps to get to the location of the pirate ship. That wasn’t too bad so I went into the market and bought a salvager and fitted it to my ship. I also grabbed a couple of drone to shoot anything that might try to mess with me and put my armor repairer onboard just in case. 3 jumps later and I was at the ship looking to salvage.

I click on my salvage module and…nothing. I try again…nothing. WTF???

Turns out I needed to be using the Civilian Salvager module that the guy who gave me the mission provided. This particular pirate ship was unsalvagable by the normal device, it HAD to be the Civilian one.

So I had to jump 3 times back to my station, fit the Civilian Salvager, and the head back out.

A mission that should have been simple and taken a few minutes took me half an hour since I had to make multiple round trips requiring so many jumps…pain in the butt!

Oh well, I finished off the mission and moved on.

I’m looking forward to making some significant progress this weekend since these early missions seem to be pretty easy to accomplish once I actually read them properly.
