FCBD and a Tough Loss

Daily Ramble 226: FCBD and a Tough Loss

The Angel game last night was a good one but they definitely should have won. Sometimes relief pitchers need to focus more to get the job done and these guys failed to do that. On the other side of things, while I didn’t get out to Free Comic Book Day I did get a few issues from friends. I should have mentioned the day before it occurred but…oh well. A look back is better than not mentioning it at all. I’ll give a preview next year.

A Tough Loss

The Angels should have won the game last night but they just kept giving Seattle chances. They handily took care of things for the first 7 innings lead by Tyler Skaggs. He only gave up 2 runs on 6 hits and he looked pretty good.

The problems started with the bullpen. With the Angels ahead 4–2 in the 8th, they let the Mariners take the lead 6–4.

Fortunately Mike Trout and Justin Upton brought the Angels back to even in the 9th and Chris Young got the go ahead RBI in the 10th. But then in the bottom of the inning, Jeff Marte, who was gonna be my Player of the Game, made an error that lead to another tie.

Trout and Simmons combined to retake the lead in the 11th but the bullpen blew it again. 2 blown saves and a loss for the relievers last night and they certainly did not look good. The offense did their job but you can’t win with bad pitching.

While Marte went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs I cant give him the Player of the Game because of that error. So I turn to Simmons, who went 4 for 6 to raise his average to .357, one of the top in MLB, to give the award.

Hopefully the bullpen with get it together the next time they’re relied upon.

A Brief Look Back At Free Comic Book Day

I didn’t get much of an opportunity to get out there but I’ve heard good things about FCBD yesterday. A bunch of friends went over to our local Comickaze Comic book store around the corner and picked me up a few issues.

This is always a good day to bring friends to the comic book store since they usually have fun stuff going on…a could years ago the day landed on May 4th so everyone dressed up as Star Wars characters.

In any case, here’s a look at the comics that were released for FCBD which also act a decent jumping on points for the titles…
