My Reading:

Apparently it was the House of Evolution who sent Mosquito Girl (I had previously referred to her as the Mosquito Queen) in the previous punch, to attack the city and the leaders of this nefarious organization take a particular interest in Saitama since he defeated her with a single punch. But before we see what they have in mind for our hero, we get a history of Genos prior to his meeting with Saitama.

It seems at the age of 14, the town Genos lived in was attacked by a runaway cyborg. Surviving the assault, Genos found Professor Kuseno who agreed to help Genos seek justice against the cyborg by turning Genos into a cyborg as well. Genos has searched for the creature that destroyed his town over the past four years and in all that time had not been defeated until he ran into Mosquito Girl. Since Saitama saved Genos’ life, he feels indebted to him and asks to become his disciple.

With the historical interlude outta the way we head back to Saitama’s home. Genos detects visitors approaching fast and next thing we see is Kamakyuri breaking through the ceiling only to be smacked by Saitama and dying. Frog Man and Slugerous who were also sent by the House of Evolution are also put down, but rather than punching them, Saitama simply shoves them into the ground…head first.

Genos wants to help out and may get his chance as a hand grabs Saitama and pulls him down into the sidewalk. Is Armored Gorilla looking for a fight or is he looking to extend the ‘invitation’ of Dr. Genus and his House of Evolution?

What did I learn:

  • Genos is definitely a cyborg.
  • There are more than just Genos that are cyborgs
  • So far we’re not sure why the House of Evolution is sending these monsters.

My Thoughts:

Saitama doesn’t really want to be a ‘master’ to Genos. He doesn’t even seem to want to be a hero most of the time and is instead just trying to go about his normal life. Somehow though, these monsters keep showing up and he has to deal with them. The fact that Genos wants Saitama to train him looks like it’s only gonna make things worse.

The background that Genos provides is the most indepth story we have so far for any of the characters and it shows that there have been monster attacks going on for at least 8 years. It doesn’t seem like all these attacks are initiated by the House of Evolution though. Instead, they seem to be fairly new on the scene with the Mosquito Girl as a prototype.

My Rating: B+
