My Pull List for Week 6 of 2019

Lotsa new stuff in here this week and I’m working on reading some issues from each category each week.

Marvel Unlimited Weekly Releases

These issues come from my look at new Marvel Unlimited Weekly Releases on Monday.

  • Cosmic Ghost Rider #2
  • Immortal Hulk #4
  • Ant-Man & The Wasp #4
  • Star Wars #52
  • X-Men: Gold Annual #2
  • Marvel Rising: Ms. Marvel/Squirrel Girl #1
  • Infinity Wars #1

From DC Universe

  • Gotham City Sirens Vol. 1 – Union by Paul Dini and Guillem March. Published by DC Comics, 2009. The book club indicates issues 1-7 but I looked it up on Wikipedia and see that this comprises the issues collected into the Union volume. Regardless, this looks fun as it features a ‘team up’ of the bad girls of Gotham – Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn. I don’t know much about the DC lore behind these women other than from movies and TV shows but I hope to find out.

From Comixology:

  • Project: Superpowers #6 by Rob Williams and Sergio Davila. Published by Dynamite Entertainment, 2019. From what I have heard, this is a great conclusion to the arc and I’m looking forward to seeing how things resolve themselves.
  • These Savage Shores by Ram V and Smit Kumar. Published by Vault Comics, 2019. I’m not usually into horror comics but I’ve heard some really good things about this series so I think I’ll check out the first 3 issues and see if what I’ve heard is valid.
  • Die #3 by Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans. Published by Image Comics, 2019. All I can say about this series is WOW! I’ve enjoyed each of the first 2 issues and am glad to get this 3rd issue in my hands.
  • Curse Words #1 by Charles Soule and Jordan Boyd. Published by Image Comics, 2017. Issue 20 just came out this week but I want to go back to the start to see if this series is worth it. From what I hear, it’s pretty good and with Charles souls I expect good things.
  • Prodigy #3 by Mark Millar and Rafael Albuquerque. Published by Image Comics, 2019.
  • The Girl in the Bay #1 by J. M. DeMatteis and Corbin Howell. Published by Dark Horse Comics, 2019. A girl is killed but shows up 50 years later. How did this happen and how did someone take over her life while she was gone? It just sounds cool.
  • Infinite #1 by Matthew Scott. Published by Caliber Comics, 2019. The Infinites are feared and persecuted and they’re headed to war with Humaninty and I want to find out what this is all about.

From Marvel Unlimited 1963:

  • Journey into Mystery #99 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Published by Marvel Comics, 1964. Surtur shows up for the first time to challenge Thor.
  • Amazing Spider-Man #9 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Published by Marvel Comics, 1964. Spidey takes on Electro.
  • Avengers #3 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Published by Marvel Comics, 1964. Namor makes an appearance against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes…and I know some day he joins up with them

From Comixology Unlimited

  • John Constantine, Hellblazer Vol. 1 – Original Sins by Jamie Delano and John Ridgeway. Published by Vertigo Comics, 2013. There may be collected in 2013 but the stories come from far afield. This volume collects Swamp Thing #76-77 in addition to Hellblazer #1-9 and since I enjoyed the film and the shortlived TV show I figure I should go back to the source to see what it’s like.

Comic Book Reading Club

Last but not least is my Comic-Con reading group where we’re taking a look at…

  • Deadly Class Vol. 2 – Kids of the Black Hole by Rick RemenderWesley Craig, and Lee Loughridge. Published by Image Comics, 2015. Covering Issues 7 through 11 of this great story, it’s particularly fun to see how things have been adapted from paper to the screen. Personally, I think SyFy is doing a pretty good job so far and I’m really enjoying the show. But then, I loved the comic.
