Losing Two Pounds

So after almost 2 months of lockdown, no shopping, and only takeout, I am glad to say I’ve actually lost two pounds. I’m pretty sure that’s come about because I started up running again, but however it happened, I’m happy about it. I’m sure I could lose another 10+, but two is good for now.

Mileage Improvments

Actually, I am starting to mix up my running strategies. I had been running based on time, focusing on getting out on my feet for 20 to 30 minutes at a shot. Now I am looking more at mileage, trying to get 3 or 4 miles out there. And for my long run, I got up to a plan of 6 miles this week.

I don’t think I’m gonna match that next week though, as I’m gonna level off my long run this time around and push to get in more daily distance. I’m hoping to put in at least 3 miles a day this week, along with a bit extra on the weekend. My goal is to shoot for 25 miles this week, which would be a bump of 2 miles over last week, where I mixed time and mileage.

Regardless, I think my running routine has been a great thing during this time of lockdown, and I’m hoping to keep it going as things begin to ease up.

Hopefully, you’ve been able to find a way of dealing with the lockdown as I have, and hopefully, it’s positive enough to keep it going afterward.

  1. Congratulation of the ongoing weight loss. I see so many people out running at present and it’s a great way to exercise. My weight has increased purely due to lockdown “eating for pleasure” syndrome. I shall attempt to address this 🙂

    • Running is one of the easiest ways to start getting into shape. I didn’t even begin with too much – first I just started walking to the end of my block…then jogging slowly down to the park…then going for 5 and 10 minutes. As I did I statted to use the run-walk method where I ‘run’ for 60 seconds and walk for 30. I still do the 60/30 split and it really helps prevent getting too tired.

Hopefully you’ll find your way to drop those ‘lockdown’ pounds – Summer is coming and everyone wants to at least have a slightly slimmer Dad bod when they go outside.
