Watching Television the Fourth Week of May 2018

I was looking back at what I watched on television the fourth week of May 2018 and I realized this week was a bit crazy so I didn’t spend much time watching TV. I did still get to most of my favorites but most of the secondary shows were put on the back burner for a week. I want to get back to them next week. One sad thing is that a bunch of my shows are coming to a close soon. The Americans will be ending soon and it looks like Lucifer might actually have one more episode but it’s pretty much over after that. The Terror too is finishing up it’s season and while there supposedly will be another season, this is the final episode with this cast and story. Everything is coming to a close but I’m sure there’ll be some new things to watch soon. If not, I can catch up on shows I pushed off for lack of time.

Favorites from the Week ending May 26th

  • Westworld season 2 episode 5 – Akane No Mai. Well we finally got to see almost a whole episode in Shogun World and it was a blast. Maeve, Hector, Lutz and crew show up in feudal Japan and watch as the Japanese ronin, Masashi, plays through the same scene we saw in Sweetwater where the bandits come to town to steal a safe from the saloon. The main difference is instead of a brothel, this is a geisha house. The similarities are there and we even see Maeve sympathize with Akane and her love for her ‘adopted daughter’ Sakura. While they are struggling against the local Shogun, Dolores and Teddy are looking to steal a train. The only problem here is that Teddy hasn’t been evolving as quickly as Dolores wants. She’s got an agenda and a timeline and Teddy needs some help so she enlists Phil the technician to upgrade Teddy’s software. We’ll see how that works in the next episode. On the whole, this was another great episode.
  • Killing Eve season 1, episode 7 – I Don’t Want to Be Free. This episode sees Villanelle expecting to get outta prison but instead she gets a roommate. Of course the roommate tries to kill her but our assassin proves superior. After the failed plot the new plan is to transfer her outta the prison and…this is the actual escape. So it looks like there could very well be multiple groups working for and against Villanelle inside Russia. There’s also indications that Carolyn might be teamed up with the 12 or at least with Konstantin. So many things are going on but we only have one more episode left this season.
  • The Terror season 1, episode 10 – We Are Gone. This is the season finale and even though everyone dies except for Crozier, I’ve heard there’s supposed to be a second season. They really do a good job tying everything together and the revelation that Hickey is a cut throat who stole the real Cornelius Hickey’s identity was a total surprise. This was a good season and I’m glad I found this show. The only question I really have is why Crozier didn’t tell the English explorers that he was still alive, but then I can see that it does kinda make some sense.
  • The Americans seasons 6, episode 9 – Jennings, Elizabeth. Only the finale remains but this has been a great season. I really don’t know what’s gonna happen. Stan certainly looks like he’s getting close to catching Philip and Elizabeth but I think he may be pressing too hard. Showing their picture to everyone and not getting a hit, makes me wonder if this is some kind of a misdirection. Couple that with the fact that the FBI captured Burov and this was a killer episode. Only a couple days till the finale and I’m excited.

This is a significant reduction from the number of shows I watched last week but it only reflects my time constraints and not my enjoyment of these shows. I expect I might watch a few more shows next week with the long weekend.
