3 Game Sweep

Well that was a sweep but for the wrong team and it’s set the Angels back to 2 games under .500.

Only 3 Hits

With 13 strike outs and only 3 hits, the Angels were lucky to pick up 2 runs but they were in no danger of coming back and winning the game. Andrew Heaney had one bad inning and pretty much just one bad pitch to C.J. Cron, but was decent other than that. That pitch turned into a 2 run single that lead to a 4 run inning and the loss though.

With Trout sitting out the game with a wrist injury, Justin Upton was the ‘star’ picking up a couple hits and scoring a run but his 2 for 3 performance was the highlight of the offense. The only other hit was Albert Pujols who also scored but while Simmons and Marte picked up RBIs, neither did so with a hit.

I guess the best thing to say about the offense is they didn’t miss opportunities with runners in scoring position since there were hardly any base runners at all. This was really a bad game for the team and being swept like this is demoralizing.

Upton gets my Player of the Game but it’s one of the weaker performances to get the award this season.
