In the first issue (Obi-Wan and Anakin #1) we saw the Jedi crash land on a planet called Carnelion IV and even though they were there to provide assistance, they ran into some unfriendly locals. Apparently there’s some kind of war going on between groups calling themselves the ‘Open’ and the ‘Closed’. Of course Obi-Wan and Anakin are clueless as to what these distinctions mean but instead are determined to find whoever sent out the call for help.

After saving a couple of ‘Open’ in the first issue, the Jedi take down a ‘Closed’ airship and disarm both parties before anyone can get hurt. Both Obi-Wan and his Padawan display impressive skills but the locals are still intent on killing each other and while Anakin wants to jump in the middle to attempt to solve the war, Kenobi insists that they leave these combatants to their fighting and get their own job done.

Things are exciting on the planet but we also get to see a flashback where Anakin goes on a secret solo mission with Chancellor Palpatine.

I’m finding the dissatisfied Anakin a nice precursor to the adult we all know he’s going to become and the impatience he displays should, I think, worry Obi-Wan a bit more than it does. In either case though, there are some nice panels with cool art.

Verdict

I rate this issue a Read
